Rise to the need!

This picture flashed across the nation with the horrifying report that an elementary school in Connecticut had come under attack of one gunman and possible two. 

The story tore at my heart. I had just returned home from a classroom of children, and felt the attack close to home. So many individuals are speaking up about reasons and about solutions; however, I think right now it is necessary to think of the families. 

The Christmas season will be so difficult for these families.  Many times when a tragic event like this happens, people are aware for a short time and then continue with their own lives. 
In order to keep these families in our minds, especially over the busy holidays, I want to encourage you to make a special ornament for each child on your Christmas tree. My Sunday school class this week will be doing that for our tree. 
This small action may not seem like much, but every time you look at your tree you will remember to pray for those who are hurting.
