Spending a day at work on seniors day is always interesting. Today, an elderly women came up to the counter and pulled some valentine items from her cart. For conversation, I asked, "are you ready for Valentines?"
She looked at me with a deep sadness in her eyes and replied " the day doesn't mean as much to me since my husband passed away." I immediately felt like I had placed my foot in my mouth and tried remedy the moment by saying. " How long were you married?" She smiled and said that it had been 47 years... almost the 50 year point." I saw tears in her eyes and so I finished the conversation by saying " many good memories!"
As Valentines comes around, remember those you love and make the most of every day. We are blessed to have the ability to love! Every day matters and you don't want to waste one moment.
