A day in my life

It is another beautiful winter day in Kansas, we are experiencing unusually cold temperatures of 60 degrees... hahaha , yeah right! As soon as I stepped outside this morning I felt an immediate energy boost. So instead of sitting down at a computer to write, I decided to roll up my sleeves, don an apron, and dive into the laundry and  into baking a batch of donuts.

A girl realizes how much her mom is needed around the house when she begins to take part in the gruesome job of digging through a pile of laundry that has accumulated from six family members, half of whom are teen girls! One would think we could clothe an entire army with just the clothes in the laundry room!!!  Lawana Blackwell mentions in her book  ," Catherine's heart", that girls had to change their dresses just for supper every day. This would be a major catastrophe if we enforced this rule in our home.

So once I dug myself out of the laundry room, I entered the kitchen where the sun was shining brightly through the south window. I am just so overwhelmed by the modern conveniences we enjoy!! I attempted to go "old fashioned" while making these donuts and use a wood spoon to stir. After about five minutes I had to give in to the fact that  I was too spoiled to go another minute without the electric mixer. So now the dough is successfully rising in the window and we are on our way to a delicious dessert!!! :)

  1. Girl! Try when I was your age, I'd do the laundry of 3 toddlers 1/2 in diapers and you who needed clean clothes every 10 minutes! :) Love ya!
